The way a person interacts with the materials they use can bring up emotional states triggered by the sensory experience. Art materials can be fun to explore as one widens their array of experiences through experimentation.
The use of every day items (found objects) in art can be a very meaningful experience. Found object creations are very valuable in Art Therapy because they allow the participant to attach their own unique meanings and explanations to their work. Art Therapy can span cross-cultural and include visual, movement, musical, dance and performing arts. As clients create art, they may analyse what they have made and how it makes them feel. Through the experimentation of their art, people can look for themes and conflicts that may be affecting their thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
